What's your typical approach to client engagements?

I get many clients via referral, so I often have an idea of what they may need before engagement. They usually have questions regarding their website or social channels and we go from there. Because I work with small brands, startups and founders, they often struggle to bring an idea to life and have a range of free flow questions. My immersion begins with questions about their overall needs and immediate plans to scope out the timing. Because I have Agency experience with a wide range of clients both large and small, my process follows a path to address their short term and long term needs and help them plan for success.

I use a Gantt Model to develop the overall scope of work and timing and make everything I do flexible to their timing and budget. We review their Mission, Vision and Brand Story. If itโ€™s a CPG business, what SKUโ€™s they have or are looking to launch, what others may be in development and what their unique selling points are. Similarly if they are B2B, what niche do they serve. If they canโ€™t answer or wish they could do a better job of it, I take note for messaging development. We also review their sales strategy and competition; who their target audiences are and who they aspire to be, where they aspire to sell, and if theyโ€™re already sellingโ€”what they want changes they are seeking or discuss how to scale. From there I can craft a proposal and open up a dialogue about timing and overall budget. I start with a minimum three month engagement, at that point we have a clearer vision of what they need and how we best work together.

What are your specialties or professional superpowers?

My professional superpower is that I'm a writer first, I call myself a brand storyteller. My agency experience in marketing and communications and PR taught me to work as a leader on a team, both internally and externally and a coach to clients in need of an extra hand to guide them. Listen first is my philosophy, even when a client can't elucidate their vision, my innate storytelling skills, and many years as a publicist, can identify the story, the brand and the look and feel they should lean into. From there we can work on anything, from their website, to their social media (which is usually their immediate need) and further address their sales goals, aspirations and needs.
